This site aims to give a picture of the life, work and influence of Gertrude Jekyll; she was a notable garden designer and author, who was born in London and lived the greater part of her life in Surrey, England, from 1843 to 1932. The  site is divided into ten sections.

The HOME page gives an overview of her life and work.

The BOOKSHOP reviews books by, about or related, in some way, to her; you can buy books on line through the site.

GARDENS, designed or influenced by her, can be visited today; a number of them have been well maintained or restored.

Her LIFE & CAREER spanned almost 90 years and is described here, with a comprehensive chronology.

Her great great grandfather lived in AMERICA, before the War of Independence. Her work is much admired and very influential there.

The British architect SIR EDWIN LUTYENS, had a fruitful cooperation with her, over more than 30 years; they created many houses and gardens together.

The ARTS & CRAFTS movement, led by William Morris, had a considerable influence over her work.
